Confronting the Illusion of Inclusion: Think You Know How to Lead Inclusively? Think Again.

Because their experiences and perceptions around inclusion may differ greatly from those of their employees, many leaders may be operating under an illusion of inclusion. Unaware of this disconnect, even leaders with the best of intentions may make choices or model behaviors that do little to foster inclusion.

It is important for leaders to understand what it means to be an inclusive leader, why it matters and the pitfalls to avoid in order to foster inclusion.  Based on our study that examined the experiences of inclusion of nearly 5000 employees globally, this paper identifies four core capabilities every leader must possess to lead more inclusively.
